Notes

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 baguettes (enough for 30-35 slices, about ¼ inch thick; pre-sliced option available)
  • Olive oil spray
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened (not melted)
  • 1 small lemon, juiced
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, crushed
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz cold smoked salmon
  • For garnish: capers and fresh dill sprigs
 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the Crostini:
    • Slice the baguette into ¼-inch to ½-inch pieces (you should get 30-35 slices).
    • Arrange the slices on a baking sheet.
    • Lightly spray both sides of the slices with olive oil.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 9 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
    • Remove the crostini from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet.
  3. Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture:
    • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with lemon juice, chopped dill, crushed garlic, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix well until smooth and creamy.
    • If desired, transfer the cream cheese mixture into a piping bag for easier application.
  4. Assemble the Crostini:
    • Once the crostini have cooled, arrange them on a serving platter.
    • Top each crostini with a slice of smoked salmon.
    • Pipe a small dollop of the cream cheese mixture onto each piece of salmon.
    • Garnish with a few capers and a sprig of fresh dill.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve immediately and enjoy!
