Notes

Ingredients

  • 8 slices thick white bread*
  • 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
  • 4–8 slices of your favorite melty cheese (Swiss, provolone, American, Monterey Jack, Gruyere, Fontina, or Havarti)
  • 4 thin slices deli turkey (oven-roasted or honey turkey works best)
  • Butter, for spreading

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 370°F (190°C).
  2. Assemble the sandwiches:
    • Butter one side of each bread slice.
    • On the unbuttered side, layer cheese, a thin slice of turkey, then another layer of cheese.
    • Top with another slice of bread, buttered side facing out.
    • Secure with a toothpick if needed.
  3. Air fry:
    • Place sandwiches in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
    • Cook at 370°F for 2–3 minutes, flip carefully, then cook another 2–3 minutes until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove toothpicks and serve warm.

Tips & Variations

  • Cheese combo tip: Sharp cheddar + Swiss or provolone pairs especially well with turkey.
  • No-butter option: Lightly spray the bread with cooking oil instead.
  • With mayo: Spread a thin layer of mayo on the inside of the bread for extra richness.
  • Extra melty: Keep the turkey very thin so the cheese stays the star.
